Our Services

We Offer Every Service To Keep Your Property Looking Great

A sample of your soil will be sent to a lab for analysis. A comprehensive test will be done to determine which nutrients your turf needs.  Also, the lab will provide the current pH and recommend if any lime needs to be applied and exactly how much.
A balanced fertilizer will be applied based on the soil test results.  There are three main nutrients in turf fertilizer: Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium.  A licensed professional will apply the proper amount of fertilizer to your turf.  The application rate will change depending on the time of year and the condition of the turf.  As always, instructions will be provided as to what needs to be done by the homeowner.
A blend of tall fescue seed is applied to an existing lawn.  Tall fescue is the type of seed that is recommended by the University of Maryland.  Various cultivars of Tall Fescue that are disease resistant and drought tolerant will be used when we do the over seeding.
Core aeration is one type of lawn aerating that is done. Plugs or “cores” of soil are removed from the ground.  Core aeration reduces soil compaction and creates a channel that oxygen, water and nutrients can reach the roots of the grass .  For cool season grasses, the best time to aerate is early Fall.  Depending on the condition of the existing lawn, aeration can be done in the Spring as well.

Where you live in Montgomery County will determine what products we can use on your lawn to control broadleaf weeds.  There are some local municipalities within the county that have not adopted the law.

BROADLEAF WEED CONTROL -Areas where Montgomery County Pesticide Law does not apply

There are warm season and cool season weeds in this area of the country, and they germinate and grow throughout the entire year. Weeds seeds can lay dormant in the soil for years and then germinate.  Weed seeds can also be brought to your lawn by wind or even on lawn mowers, if you have your lawn mowed by a company.  Periodic spraying is necessary to minimize the broadleaf weeds.  We will not blanket the entire lawn with weed control but will be environmentally friendly and reduce the amount of pesticide that we use and spray only where the weeds are present.

ORGANIC BROADLEAF WEED CONTROL – Areas where Montgomery County Pesticide Law does apply

Broadleaf weed control is not as easy as it was in the past.  Treatable weeds include dandelion, plantain, clover, chickweed and others but not as many weeds as the previous products controlled.  Fiesta is one product that the county has approved for use, in turf grass, on broadleaf weeds.  Fiesta starts to work almost immediately. Broadleaf weeds turn black, and the leaves shrivel and die within days. Children and pets may use the lawn as soon as the treatment has dried. There is no unpleasant odor.  Fiesta does not work on grassy weeds, only broadleaf weeds. Nutsedge, crabgrass and Japanese stilt grass are a few examples of grassy weeds that are common in lawns in this area.  Currently, there are not any approved products that can be used for grassy weeds in lawns in Montgomery County. Fiesta is an important tool to manage most broadleaf weeds over several seasons.  In conjunction with regular fertilizing, proper watering, mowing, aerating and seeding, we can reduce weed populations to a reasonable level.

Due to the much higher price of Fiesta, only spot spraying will be included in your lawn care program.  If your lawn requires more than a spot spraying application of Fiesta, an additional charge may be necessary.

We have learned that one application of Fiesta is not enough to provide any meaningful weed control. A minimum of two sprays is the least amount required.  Aerating and seeding, in combination with Fiesta and fertilizer applications, will provide good weed reduction, thus keeping weeds to a minimum.

Insects can do damage to the turf blades as well as the grass roots. An preventative insecticide can be applied to decrease the likelihood of this occurring.  Grubs are the insects that typically do the most damage in this area.  They can damage to the grass in the fall so a preventative insecticide is applied a few months in advance.
Based on the results of the soil test, lime can be added to the soil, if the pH is low. A ph of 6.5- 7.0 is ideal for turf grass to utilize the fertilizers to their fullest.

Proper mowing of the lawn is one of the most important tasks for the overall health of the turf. Our crews will properly mow the lawn and trim all areas correctly. All paved and hard surfaces will be cleaned after we are finished working.
